Sandy Genis is a professional land planner with special expertise in the areas of environmental analysis and housing, working primarily with citizens’ groups and governmental agencies. She was elected to the 2012 Costa Mesa City Council, returning to the council sixteen years after serving from 1988-1996.
She is a former mayor of Costa Mesa from 1989 to 1990. Sandy served on the Southern California Association of Governments Regional Council and the Orange County Regional Advisory and Planning Council. She also served on the Southern California Special Commission on Air Quality and the Economy and Orange County Housing Commission.
Ms. Genis is currently involved with several nonprofit organizations, including the boards of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust and the Orange County Fairgrounds Preservation Society, the group which successfully worked to stop the sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds.
